GIC Presents NLe 61, 200 Claims To Three Families

One of the leading insurance companies in the country, Globalrisk Insurance Company (GIC) – SL Ltd recently presented Le 61.2 Million (NLe 61, 200) claims to three families at King Fahad Islamic Primary School, Rokimbie I, Yoni Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, Regional Police Headquarter, Kenema District and Lungi Divisional Headquarter, Port Loko District to families of deceased late police officers and teacher respectively.

Support officer, Superintendent Alieu Sillah Kamara of Sierra Leone Police Divisional Headquarters in Lungi commended GIG, stating that it was his first time of witnessing an insurance company giving benefits to late customers of an insurance company, adding, “I had joined several insurance companies, but I have never aware of such benefit given to late customers family, it has make me to stop all insurance contributions. I hope GIC will not relent towards its customers as several insurance companies hardly adhere to its obligations and corporate social responsibilities”.

The Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of GIC, Paul Oparah assured customers to do more to enhance the lives of civil servants so that they can improve their full potentials and achieve their dreams to live a comfortable life with their families, as this is almost impossible to achieve in their daily life considering the worldwide economic trends.

Paul Oparah disclosed that the company has branches in Makeni, Bo and Kenema and headquarter at 2 Wellington Street in Freetown and started operations in 2020.

Paul Oparah disclosed that the Late Private Constable (PC) Aminata Koroma, Private Constable (PC) Fayia Brima and Senior Teacher Idrissa C. Kamara joined the GIC eight months ago and they have contributed about eight months, noting, “Although the company’s contractual agreement to its customers is a year for loan among other services”.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, several customers have benefitted from the loan scheme and claims as the procedures were consistent in line with their policies and deceased customer’s families have received their benefits of over Three Hundred Thousand New Leones (Old Le 300,000,000) nationwide in the public view of the institutions and families.

He stated that the company’s loan scheme is in full operations and that they have started granting loans over a year ago to its customers since 2021 and the company has disbursed over Nine Hundred Thousand New Leones (Old Le 900, 000,000) to its customers nationwide.

He said that insurance has to do with human life as the company’s plan is to support families as the company don’t request for collateral like other institutions, adding, “no one knows when death will come, life insurance contribution help us to show that we really love our family, as the insurance company pay individual contribution with interest and this benefit GIC is paying the deceased families, Aminata Koroma, Fayia Brima and Idrissa C. Kamara who joined the scheme about 9 months ago and passed away but yet we paid to the families of three NLe 61, 200 (Old Le 61.2 Million) has the deceased had  children and the money is shared equally among their children”.

He admonished all to join insurance scheme that has great benefit for the future and people to utilize such services available around them which the government cannot do alone and therefore encouraged the private sector to design services that will uplift the standard of life of the citizens, noting, “GIC as an institution is bent to improve the lives of all Sierra Leoneans that are eligible to take any of their policies”.

GIC Assistant Manager – Life Department, Ibrahim Sorie Sesay revealed that the Gobalrisk Insurance Company has life insurance products include; ‘Gentri’ Assurance Plan, Guaranteed Education Assurance Plan among others, and the primary objective of the ‘Gentri’ Assurance Plan is to ensure that the policyholder lives a good life by affording loan facility to the customers to acquire basic household assets, save for the future, as well as providing benefit for dependants in the event death of the customer; and the Guaranteed Education Assurance Plan helps customers save towards future education of their children, as well as providing yearly financial support to the child up to 18 years in the event that the customer dies before then.

Ibrahim Solaimed Sesay stated that the Managing Director is the specialist on life insurance that has several expertise on insurance schemes.

Saidu Kamara husband of the Late Private Constable Aminata Koroma, acclaimed the company for its adherence to its obligations and agreement of its customers as the claims paid to them will go a long way to enhance and encouraged civil servants among others to join Globalrisk Insurance Company scheme with a minimum of NLE 100 (Le 100,000) monthly contribution.

The Late Fayia Brima’s daughter, Victoria Madie Brima, acclaimed the company for its adherence to its policies and called on others to join the company that is real and close to its customers, adding, “Although it’s not easy of losing a love one but it is the test of time and it is death we are waiting for on earth”.

Presentation of cheques climaxed the ceremony and other police officers and teachers assured to persuade some of their colleagues to join Globalrisk Insurance Company-SL Limited as it is a true insurance company that adhere to its policies and display it reality of its obligations to the doorsteps of its customers.
