Job Description: prepares, examines and analyzes the day-to-day accounting records, financial statements and other financial records to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformity to reporting and procedural standards of the commission.
MAIN DUTIES
⮚The accountant will work under the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer.
⮚Develops, maintains and analyzes budgets and prepares periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
⮚Develops implements, modifies and documents record keeping and accounting systems making use of current computer technology.
⮚Advises management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumption underlying budget forecasts.
⮚Verifies and reconciles contracts, orders and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
⮚Responsible for the day-to-day accounting work of the commission and will work closely with the Commission’s supervising ministry.
⮚Ensures that budget allocations to the commission are remitted in a timely manner.
⮚Ensures that accounting records and supporting documents are kept accurately and efficiently.
⮚Enters financial transactions into the computerized accounting system.
⮚Maintains petty cash transactions (preparation of payment request forms receipt and disbursement of cash).
⮚Ensures that petty cash is reviewed and updated, and other records are kept up to date.
⮚Prepares salaries and allowances and do necessary follow-up.
⮚Prepares checks, withdraw money from the bank and collect bank statements.
⮚Reconcile bank accounts and prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements.
⮚Prepare monthly and quarterly returns.
⮚Prepares cash book.
⮚Processes and oversees the processing of financial /business forms.
⮚Contributes to the commission’s goals by accomplishing related duties as required.
⮚Coordinates logistics for the commission’s activities and related events in collaboration with relevant personnel.
⮚Keep abreast with professional standards, trends and issues affecting this set of responsibilities.
⮚Work effectively and collaboratively in support of building team-work culture.
⮚Any other duties assigned
JOB SPECIFICATION
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Accounting or related field from a recognised institution, and professional certificate/degree (CAT, ACCA etc) in accounting will be an added advantage.

PURPOSE: To develop and implement a coordinated education and outreach programme that enhances Public interest in the work of the Monuments and Relics Commission and contributes to the management and preservation of the country’s historical and cultural assets.
MAIN DUTIES
⮚Devises and maintains a one-stop shop information and booking service for students and communities.
⮚Provides education input into facility development of the commission.
⮚Contributes to the management of a coordinated programme of awareness raising, education and lifelong learning activities involving the general public.
⮚Facilitates and encourages the involvement of the general public in the work of the Commission.
⮚Develops opportunities for people with learning difficulties.
⮚Provides reports and reviews of the awareness raising/education programmes.
⮚Liaises and maintains effective communication and relations with all relevant communities and organizations.
⮚Liaises with businesses and sponsors and contributes to fundraising initiatives.
⮚Contributes to the formulation and delivery of the Commission’s programme of events in support of its core mandate.
⮚Devises, develops and delivers creative discussion aimed at meeting new opportunities via print and electronic media on a regular basis.

- Creates a learning strategy to engage the public on museum ethos.

- Liaises with schools, colleges and teachers to promote the use of the collections and activities of the museum in line with the national curriculum.

- Works with the nearest police post for the security and safety of Bunce Island.
