A surge of enthusiasm and optimism swept through the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) this week as Hon. Sarjoh Aziz-Kamara, a prominent candidate for the position of National Secretary General, organised a high-energy press conference that drew a large crowd of party faithful, delegates, and grassroots supporters.

Held in Freetown at the party’s Headquarter, the event offered more than just a typical campaign update; it became a rallying point for party members who see in Aziz-Kamara a leader with the clarity, commitment, and character to steer the party’s Secretariat into a stronger and more unified future.

From the start, his delivery was calm, confident, and focused. Speaking with conviction, Aziz-Kamara outlined a comprehensive and inclusive vision for the SLPP Secretariat. Central to his message was a renewed focus on revitalizing the party’s internal structures, reconnecting with the grassroots, and instilling what he described as the “4Rs” — Respect, Recognition, Reward, and Result.

“These principles are not just slogans,” he said. “They are the foundation for building a Secretariat that truly serves our members, amplifies their voices, and strengthens our position across the country.”

His words resonated deeply with the audience. Supporters, both young and old, broke into applause multiple times during his remarks, signalling a groundswell of support that may prove decisive as the party heads into its next round of internal elections.

A grassroots chairperson who attended the conference spoke passionately about Aziz-Kamara’s longstanding impact on the party.

“He’s been there for the party through thick and thin,” she said. “He understands the needs of the base. We’ve seen him engage with us, not only during election time, but consistently over the years. He respects the people, and the people respect him.”

Others at the press conference echoed similar sentiments. A delegate from Bo District called him a “unifier and strategist,” while another supporter from Kono described him as “a leader who listens and delivers.”

The event turned into a showcase of support, as party activists and regional leaders praised Aziz-Kamara’s track record and commitment to the SLPP’s growth. Many highlighted his behind-the-scenes efforts in previous national campaigns, where he played crucial roles in mobilization and logistics.

One veteran party member noted, “This man knows how to build a team, how to get results, and how to maintain unity. That’s what we need in a National Secretary General.”

Aziz-Kamara’s campaign has been steadily gaining momentum in recent weeks, and the press conference only added fuel to the growing perception that he is not just a contender—but a frontrunner.

As the SLPP continues to prepare for its next internal elections, the strong public endorsement of Sarjoh Aziz-Kamara reflects a broader desire within the party to stay connected to its roots while embracing a modern, results-driven approach.

With clear vision, popular support, and an impressive record, many are now saying: Sarjoh Aziz-Kamara is the right man for the job.
