“The Unity Party Youth Congress categorically condemns and rejects the illegal, disrespectful, and politically motivated action by the Minister of Internal Affairs and his so-called “Board of Registrars” to downgrade the appointment of our comrade, Cde. F. Alphonso Belleh, from Deputy for Administration at the National Identification Registry (NIR) — a position conferred upon him by Executive Authority since February 20, 2024— to a lesser, non-equivalent role of Manager for Research, Policy and Development Planning.
Let it be clear: only the President of the Republic of Liberia is constitutionally empowered to make appointments at this level of government. The Minister’s reckless overreach is an insult not only to the Office of the President but to the rule of law, constitutional order, and every Liberian who believes in merit-based public service.
Cde. Belleh, a former Secretary General of the Unity Party Youth Congress, has a track record of unquestioned loyalty, principled leadership, and years of selfless service to both party and nation. His appointment was earned — not bought, not begged for, and certainly not subject to bureaucratic sabotage by any scheming official clinging to corrupt habits.
We ask: By what authority does the Minister override the President? Who appointed him the judge of presidential decisions? Is this a government or a political auction house?
This decision is not just illegal — it is provocative. It is a slap in the face of every young professional who believes in sacrifice, discipline, and competence as the pathway to national leadership. It is a warning that qualifications mean nothing in the face of nepotism, backroom deals, and institutional gangsterism.
We issue this as a final warning:
The Minister of Internal Affairs and his so-called Board of Registrars must immediately reverse this unconstitutional reassignment and restore Cde. Belleh to his rightful position as appointed by the President — or face organized and relentless resistance.
Should they fail to act, the Youth Congress will have no choice but to declare the Minister an enemy of the youth, enemy of the Congress, and enemy of progress. We will not sit idle. We will mobilize every militant, every comrade, and every sympathizer to descend upon his office in peaceful protest — for now.
Let the record reflect: we are fully aware of the Minister’s dirty political history, marred by allegations of bribery, extortion, and corruption, both from his days in the Legislature and now, within the Executive. This is not just a personnel issue; it is a power grab rooted in greed, impunity, and disrespect for the laws of this Republic.
We also call on His Excellency the President to intervene swiftly, uphold the sanctity of his own appointments, and put an end to this creeping insubordination within the ranks of the Executive.
The Unity Party Youth Congress remains unwavering in our defense of integrity, fairness, and justice. We did not fight to replace dictatorship with daylight administrative thuggery. We stand with Cde. Belleh — and we will not retreat.
Signed:
National Secretariat
Unity Party National Youth Congress
Republic of Liberia”
