It could be recalled that, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio took power on 4th April 2018 to date and his achievement so far in his five years of leadership.

Between 2018 to 2021, major interventions have been made under the health sector have unprecedented declined from 1140 per 100,000 live births in 2018 to around 700 in 2020 and just under 500 in 2022 and the ambulance services across the country has considerably reduced difficulty in accessing health facilities.

The heath sector has also seen an increasing in employment of over 4,000 nurses which constituted over 40 percent of the workforce of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation. Recruitment on district-on-district basis was a novelty in the exercise as it allowed trained and qualified personnel to be in all secondary hospitals and most Primary Health Units (PHU’s) hence the arrival of pregnant women whose situations were treated and addressed by professionals’’.

Another contribution to the latest drop creation and operationalization of the National Medical Supplies Agency which improved the distribution to the last mile and most deprived PHUs, while as the inauguration of the newly built Rokupa and King Herman Road Hospitals as child and maternal service entities expanded the outreach of tertiary services beyond Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (PCMH).

The operationalization of a blood bank at the PCMH started to reduce haemorrhage situations in the Western Area and is expected to expand nationwide. It is against this backdrop that international partners have commended the government for the landmark achievement.

Meanwhile, President Bio also offers free scholarship to students who are in the Science department and awarded scholarship to children of senior teachers who have though for ten years and above in the teaching field, introduced the Free Quality School Education (FQSE) in August 2018 with an increasing enrolment in schools, and at the same time expand class rooms, introduced the school feeding program in deprived provincial districts as well as learning materials like text-books.

Furthermore, the education sector has also focuses on Foundational Learning where the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has hosted partners on the importance attached to early child hood reading and understanding. The implementation of the free micro credit loans facilities to market women and the disbursement of cash by national Commission for Social Action to community people so as to reduce the effect of households at community level and the country at large.

Notwithstanding, the transport and aviation sectors has seen significant change with a brand new airport constructed at Lungi Port Loko District and has the capacity to host thousands of passengers, and that school pupils are busy enjoying the school bus system as part of the free quality school education so as to reduce the burden on parents on transportation fears.

The abolition of the Death Penalty and the replied of the Criminal Liable Law which increased the space for press freedom to responsibly executing their duties.
