Malta Street , where the famous opposition All People’s Congress ( APC ) strongman and financier, Mohamed Jagaban Kamara , has his home was the scene of a war zone- type invasion by three truckloads of armed police and soldiers this Boxing Day morning , as the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP) continued harassing opposition members in Sierra Leone.
The troops scampered down from their trucks , barricaded the Malta street and adjacent streets and like an army storming an enemy enclave , they moved in on Jagaban’s home, which they stormed and conducted searches without producing any warrant.
Warrantless searches and seizures at homes of opposition members, peaceful citizens, serving and retired members of the Sierra Leone army and police have been going on in Sierra Leone since November 26 when the SLPP government announced that it had foiled a coup attempt , though most of the shootings that rocked Freetown that morning are now believed to have been stage-managed by the government.
Various reports by media supporting the SLPP ( seen below ) said that the police were looking for secret arms and ammunition and also acting on information that Jagaban’s home had been used for secret meetings. But most Sierra Leoneans who know the SLPP now for framing false accusations, allegations and lies against the opposition are inclined to take these stories with a punch of salt. Most people interviewed said that Jagaban does not fit any of the negative profiles the SLPP would want to paint of him.
Sierra Leoneans on social media commented that the armed raid on Jagaban’s home was just a continuation of the harassment of peaceful citizens and members of the opposition by “this fascist Bio SLPP government that has turned Sierra Leone into a police state and a theater of fear and horrors”, to quote one of them.

Armed to the teeth, the personnel swiftly took control of the situation, ensuring everyone inside the house was at gunpoint. The thorough search that followed left no room unturned, as the authorities were on a mission to locate weapons believed to be connected to the “failed coup” that took place on November 26.
Further updates on this developing story will be provided as more information becomes available.
