In Kamakwei, Karene District, The All People’s Congress (APC) witnessed a major political milestone this week as Hon. Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, popularly known as Chericoco, officially declared his intention to contest for the party’s flagbearer position at the upcoming National Delegates Conference in 2026.
The declaration in Kamakwei, Karene District, was met with excitement and celebration. Locals from across the district expressed joy and support as Chericoco boldly stepped forward, offering himself to lead the APC and steer Sierra Leone back on the path of progress.
In his declaration speech, Hon. Chericoco stated that he has risen through all ranks within the APC and is now fully prepared to lead the party and “rescue Sierra Leone from the poor governance of the SLPP.” He emphasized that the time has come for the APC to reclaim national leadership and realign the country’s direction.
Chericoco paid tribute to former President Ernest Bai Koroma for his developmental work across the nation, particularly in the establishment of Karene District. He acknowledged the former President as a mentor, from whom he learned valuable lessons in leadership, and promised to continue his legacy.
Addressing speculation about internal party rifts, Chericoco reassured supporters that he and Dr. Samura Kamara have no personal issues. “The noise on social media is just a distraction. We have a perfect relationship. We are one APC,” he said.
Kamakwei was filled with jubilation as residents welcomed Chericoco with singing and dancing in Limba and other local languages. The atmosphere was electric, with supporters loudly voicing their admiration for the APC stalwart.
Hon. Bash Kamara, a senior APC figure in the district, also spoke at the event, endorsing Chericoco. He highlighted Chericoco’s consistency, courage, and firm stance against the SLPP government in Parliament. “Chericoco is the solution for APC,” he declared.
As part of his visit, Chericoco also joined the community in observing Juma prayers at Kamakwei Masjid – 3, further demonstrating his connection with the people.
Hon. Chericoco served as the APC’s running mate in both the 2018 and 2023 general elections. He has held several key positions, including Deputy Speaker of Parliament (2012), Regional Chairman of APC Western Region, and has represented Sierra Leone in the ECOWAS Parliament and other regional bodies.
This declaration in Kamakwei marks a significant moment for APC supporters nationwide. The red movement has officially begun, and supporters are gearing up to rally behind Hon. Chericoco.
