As the election for the Western Regional Chairmanship of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) looms for April 15, 2025, incumbent Chairman Hon. Manso Dumbuya has reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to the party and its vision for a prosperous Sierra Leone under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio.
In a recent interview, Dumbuya articulated his stance on party loyalty and accountability, particularly addressing fellow contender, Chief Hindolo Moseray, and the party’s dedicated supporters.
In a conversation with an online social media platform, Hon. Dumbuya emphasized that loyalty to the SLPP must translate into tangible support for its operations and initiatives. “Loyalty to the party must be demonstrated through actionable commitment,” he asserted, underscoring the necessity for members to actively contribute to the party’s financial health.
Dumbuya took this opportunity to critique Moseray, openly advising him to settle an outstanding debt to the party that has accumulated over approximately four years. The amounts in question, representing around 48 months of unpaid contributions, were labeled by Dumbuya as “gross wickedness,” strongly asserting that one cannot genuinely profess love for the SLPP while neglecting the financial obligations necessary for its survival and growth.
The incumbent chairman’s remarks shed light on a broader issue within the party: the importance of accountability among its members. Dumbuya believes that aspiring leaders must recognize their responsibilities not only to the organization but also to the party’s wider objectives of progress and unity. “If you are not contributing, you are essentially not committed,” he noted, reinforcing that financial backing is a cornerstone of political loyalty.
Dumbuya’s history as a veteran politician adds weight to his statements. His tenure has been marked by an emphasis on collective responsibility and proactive engagement among SLPP members. During the interview, he reiterated the point that every party member should “put their mouth where their money goes,” signaling a call for consistency between words and actions.
In a party where leadership roles are highly contested, Dumbuya’s emphasis on financial contributions sets a high bar for potential candidates. He articulated a vision of an SLPP that thrives not only on the strength of its leaders but also on the collective commitment of all members to uphold the party’s ideals and operational needs. The challenge of maintaining party cohesion through financial support is particularly relevant as the SLPP heads into a critical election period.
Furthermore, Dumbuya’s leadership style is characterized by transparency and accountability, key themes that he believes are essential for fostering trust among party members. His call for action resonates particularly as Sierra Leone faces a myriad of socio-economic challenges, making the commitment of the party membership more vital than ever.
As the date for the election draws closer, the focus is not just on the candidates vying for position but also on the fundamental principles that will guide the party’s future. Dumbuya is clear: genuine loyalty to the SLPP means showing up for the party in every capacity, ensuring that it is financially sound and poised for success.
With the stakes high and the pressure mounting, Hon. Manso Dumbuya’s message serves as a rallying cry for all SLPP supporters to engage fully—financially and otherwise—as the party prepares for the upcoming electoral battle.
