In a heartwarming display of commitment to education and community welfare, Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawallie, a prominent member of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), has donated NLe 30,000 to the District Educational Council (DEC) Primary School in Constituency 045, located in Fadugu, Kabala District.
The generous contribution is aimed at constructing a protective fence around the school to ensure the safety of its pupils, who are currently exposed to significant risks due to the school’s proximity to the busy Fadugu-Kabala Highway.
The DEC Primary School, established in 1950, has long been a pillar of education in the region, nurturing many future leaders. However, its location near a heavily trafficked highway has raised serious safety concerns for the young learners who must cross it to reach the school each day. Recognizing the gravity of the issue, Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawallie took swift action to address the problem by providing the funds needed to erect a protective barrier around the school. The fence will prevent accidents and create a safer environment for both pupils and staff.
The donation was made Wednesday, March 5, 2025, and is seen as a transformative moment for the school.
The Headmistress of DEC Primary School, Madam Juliet Conteh, expressed profound gratitude to the donor for his timely and impactful support, noting that past efforts to secure funding for the fence had been unsuccessful, and Tarawallie’s intervention would have a lasting, positive effect on the school’s safety and overall development.
“This donation is not just a financial contribution, but a historic milestone for us,” said Madam Conteh. “The funds will help us build the protective fence that we have desperately needed. We are incredibly thankful to Hon. Tarawallie for understanding our plight and taking action. Construction will begin immediately, and we have already set up a committee to ensure the project runs smoothly.”
The official presentation of the donation was conducted by Alhaji Wurie Bah, Chairman of Constituency 045 and an SLPP representative.
During the ceremony, Bah emphasized the importance of education and the party’s commitment to improving the lives of the people within their communities.
He reaffirmed that safety, particularly for schoolchildren, remains a top priority for the party, which seeks to enhance the quality of education and community infrastructure across the country.
The Fadugu community has long recognized the DEC Primary School as an institution of considerable historical value. Over the decades, it has produced notable individuals who have gone on to serve in various capacities, including the late S.B. Marah, a former teacher at the school.
The construction of the protective fence will further enhance the school’s reputation and solidify its place in the history of education in Sierra Leone.
Hon. Musa Tarawallie’s donation reflects his unwavering commitment to community development, especially in the education sector. By addressing the immediate safety concerns of the school, Tarawallie has not only provided a solution to a pressing issue but also instilled hope among the students, teachers, and parents in Fadugu. His philanthropy underscores the critical role that individual contributions can play in the advancement of education and the well-being of the next generation.
As construction work gets underway, the people of Fadugu are optimistic about the future. The new fence will provide a secure environment for students to learn and grow, free from the dangers posed by nearby traffic.
The initiative serves as a shining example of how dedication and generosity can make a real difference in the lives of others, ensuring a safer and brighter future for the children of Constituency 045.
