Former ECOWAS Speaker and Member of Parliament representing Pujehun District, Hon Sidi Tunis, has once again demonstrated compassion and commitment to human development after pledging five thousand United States dollars to support a visually impaired university student in need of urgent medical care.

The beneficiary, Saidu Nallo, is a third year student of Njala University who has been battling serious eye problems that threaten his vision and academic future. Hon Sidi Tunis disclosed on his official Facebook page that, in addition to the financial support, he has also arranged passports to enable the student travel to Ghana for specialised eye surgery.

According to Hon Tunis, the decision was driven by his belief in giving promising young people a fair chance to achieve their dreams. He described Saidu Nallo as a determined and hardworking student whose condition should not be allowed to limit his potential.

“Saidu is a promising young man, and I am hopeful that covering his medical bills will help restore his sight,” Hon Tunis stated. He further expressed prayers for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery, noting that education and health remain key priorities in his public service and personal interventions.

The gesture has been widely praised by members of the public, students, and community leaders, who see it as a reflection of Hon Tunis’s long standing commitment to uplifting vulnerable individuals, particularly young people. For many, the intervention goes beyond financial assistance and represents hope at a critical moment in the student’s life.

Saidu Nallo’s condition had reportedly worsened in recent months, raising concerns about his ability to continue his studies. The arrangement for treatment in Ghana is expected to provide him access to advanced medical care that may not be readily available locally.

Observers note that this act of generosity is not an isolated one. Over the years, Hon Sidi Tunis has been involved in numerous charitable and humanitarian initiatives, ranging from educational support to health related interventions across Pujehun District and beyond. His consistent willingness to step in during times of need has earned him admiration as a leader who combines political responsibility with genuine concern for people’s welfare.

Community members say such actions help bridge gaps in access to essential services and inspire others in leadership positions to use their influence for positive social impact. They argue that interventions like this can transform lives and contribute to national development by empowering individuals to reach their full potential.

As Saidu Nallo prepares to travel for surgery, many have joined Hon Tunis in offering prayers and well wishes for a successful outcome. There is optimism that the procedure will restore his sight and allow him to return to his studies with renewed confidence.

For Hon Sidi Tunis, the gesture reflects a broader philosophy of service rooted in compassion, empathy, and action. Supporters say his readiness to put smiles on the faces of those in need continues to define his public life and reinforces the human side of leadership that resonates deeply with ordinary citizens.
