Rt. Hon. Dr. Mohamed Sidie Tunis, former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament and current Member of Parliament for Pujehun District, has provided a significant boost to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in Tonkolili District with a major financial and infrastructural donation aimed at strengthening party structures.

During a visit to Magburaka on December 10, 2025, Dr. Tunis donated NLe 400,000, equivalent to 20,000 US dollars, to the SLPP Tonkolili District Executives. Alongside the cash grant, he handed over one thousand bags of cement and five thousand pieces of half inch iron rods to support the construction of a modern SLPP district office. The materials and funds represent a substantial investment toward improving the party’s presence and organization in the region.

The gesture forms part of Dr. Tunis’s broader NLe 5 billion national development pledge to the SLPP, a commitment he has already fulfilled in several districts including Moyamba, East Urban and Bo. His ongoing contributions are designed to complement President Julius Maada Bio’s Big Five Game Changer Agenda, particularly the pillar focused on Investing in Tomorrow, which aims to strengthen the party’s long term structures and national development drive.

While in Tonkolili, Dr. Tunis met with local party stakeholders and supporters, emphasizing his dedication to empowering SLPP communities at the grassroots level. He highlighted two main priorities: mobilizing and unifying party members to consolidate progress under President Bio’s leadership, and promoting public awareness on nation building. He placed special emphasis on the nationwide campaign against the use of kush, urging communities to embrace the message of “Say No to Kush” as part of a broader effort to protect young people and promote social stability.

SLPP executives in Tonkolili expressed deep appreciation for the donation, describing it as timely and transformative for the district’s political and administrative operations. They commended Dr. Tunis for his consistent support and pledged to work collectively to strengthen the party’s influence and maintain control in the 2028 elections.

The event concluded with supporters presenting Dr. Tunis with a certificate of appreciation, reaffirming their loyalty and acknowledging his continued commitment to the party’s growth. The atmosphere in Magburaka reflected renewed enthusiasm as members welcomed the investment as a major step in advancing the SLPP’s organizational presence in the district.
