A swift, intelligence-led operation by the Sierra Leone Police has led to the interception of a large quantity of suspected tramadol in the Tokeh community, Western Area Peninsula of Freetown.
The successful raid is a testament to the effectiveness of proactive policing strategies spearheaded by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Sylvester M.N. Koroma, Regional Police Commander for Freetown West, aimed at curbing illicit drug activities in the region.
Acting on credible intelligence, a joint task force was swiftly mobilized from the Goderich Police Division, led by Chief Superintendent of Police Alimamy Sesay. The operation included personnel from the Operational Support Division (OSD), General Duty, and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Despite initial difficulties in locating the hideout, the team’s persistence paid off when they uncovered a substantial consignment of suspected tramadol—amounting to sixteen (16) gross and five (5) packets, each containing 250 milligrams of the substance. The recovered drugs were promptly handed over to the Head of the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU), Chief Superintendent Mohamed K. Allieu, for further investigation.
This successful operation reaffirms the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to intelligence-led, community-supported policing. It follows a recent drug seizure on Taylor Street, reinforcing the growing success of coordinated crackdowns on drug trafficking.
AIG Sylvester Koroma has reiterated his dedication to enhancing public safety through strategic partnerships, intelligence sharing, and sustained action against organised crime within the region.
