One of the leading main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) flag bearer aspirants, Dr Ibrahim Bangura has reassured partisans that he is fully equipped with the required knowledge and capacity to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Sierra Leone.
“I believe that I have the knowledge and capacity to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Sierra Leone. I understand the issues. And it is the right time for a new actor like DR IBRAHIM BANGURA to contend for the leadership of Sierra Leone”, he said.
Dr Bangura gave the reassurance in an interview with Spear News, during which he spoke about his knowledge and capacity to govern n Sierra Leone, adding that he has been around for a bit, and has worked on governance issues for well over two decades.
Dr Bangura explained that he has written extensively and conducted researches on governance not only in Sierra Leone but in several countries in Africa.
I was part of Civil Society Organizations that helped stabilized the country after the Civil War. I worked for a non-governmental organization called PRIDE, he disclosed.
He continued that he has contributed to security sector reform in Sierra Leone in the last fifteen – 15 years, and added that he also served as a Result Oriented Monitoring Expert in most of the places he assessed had to do with governance.
Dr Bangura furthered that he also served as a Security Sector Adviser to DFID funded programme – Access to Security and Justice, where he worked with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
He disclosed that he wrote two generations of justice sector strategies, informing that he supported several programmes; UNDP implemented rule of law in Sierra Leone.
With his experience far beyond, Dr Ibrahim Bangura has worked with ECOWAS and AU on governance related issues.
