Sheik Mohamed Kamara, widely known as Money Jagaban, has officially declared his intention for the position of Presidential candidacy (flagbearer) on February 27th, 2025, for the All People’s Congress (APC) party in the upcoming 2028 general elections.
With this announcement, Kamara becomes the third candidate to formally join the race for the APC’s flagbearership, marking a significant moment in Sierra Leone’s political landscape as the party prepares for the next Presidential election.
In his declaration, Kamara confidently expressed his readiness to lead the APC to victory and secure State House in 2028, should the party members elect him as their candidate.
He emphasized that his experience and deep-rooted ties with both the APC and the broader political sphere in Sierra Leone makes him a capable and trustworthy contender. “I am not a stranger to the APC party, nor to Sierra Leonean politics. I have been actively involved in the party’s progress and the country’s development for years,” Kamara said in his statement, highlighting his longstanding commitment to the party and its values.
Kamara’s declaration also included a reminder of his contributions to both the APC and the nation during his time as an active supporter. Despite not being the APC’s Presidential candidate in the last election, Jagaban underscored his efforts to support the party’s growth and the welfare of Sierra Leoneans. “I may not have been the Presidential candidate in the last election, but I supported numerous projects within the APC and across the country. I have always been committed to contributing positively to Sierra Leone’s progress,” he stated.
Among his contributions, Kamara pointed to his establishment of a medical clinic in Tonkolili, a region that he noted has benefited significantly from improved healthcare services. “The clinic in Tonkolili has been a major boost for the community, offering vital healthcare services that have helped improve the lives of many residents,” he said.
In addition to his healthcare contributions, Kamara made a significant donation of 300 million Leones to support a project initiated by the APC Chairman in Tonkolili, further demonstrating his financial and practical support for both the party and the people of Sierra Leone.
Furthermore, looking ahead to the 2028 election, Jagaban expressed his determination to lead the APC to victory and reaffirmed his commitment to securing governance for the party. His words conveyed an unwavering confidence in his ability to unify the party and the nation under his leadership.
“Together, we will march forward to State House in 2028. The APC will not be stopped,” Kamara boldly declared, promising to lead the party to success in the next election. He also made it clear that he would take a strong stance against any opposition or detractors who stand in his way. “Anyone who dares to stand in the APC’s path to governance in 2028 will be crushed,” he warned, signaling his readiness to fight for the party’s success.
Jagaban also took the opportunity to remind the public of his personal connection to Sierra Leone’s regions, asserting that Port Loko is his paternal hometown, claim adding a layer of personal connection to the Western Area and Northern Sierra Leone, potentially helping to strengthen his appeal to voters from these areas, as well as others who see regional representation as an important factor in the country’s leadership.
With his formal entry into the race for the APC flagbearership, Jagaban has made it clear that he is a serious contender for the 2028 Presidential election. His candidacy brings new energy and ambition to the APC, as he emphasizes his track record of contributions, both financially and in terms of development initiatives.
As the race for the APC flagbearership continues to take shape, Kamara’s candidacy is sure to be a central point of discussion, with his bold statements and pledge to bring the party to State House making waves in Sierra Leone’s political scene.
