The ceremony, which brought together students, lecturers, education stakeholders and well wishers, marked a dual milestone for the institution with the admission of new students and the graduation of others. It was chaired by Hon. Ben Alpha Mansaray.

In a major highlight of the event, Jagaban announced an educational intervention package valued at Le 1 billion aimed at strengthening the college’s academic and operational capacity. According to him, Le 300 million will be allocated to student scholarships, Le 200 million will support lecturers’ salaries, and Le 500 million will be invested in infrastructural development.

He said the initiative forms part of his broader commitment to advancing education and empowering young people across Sierra Leone. He further pledged continued partnership with the college to ensure sustained growth and improved learning conditions.

Speaking at the ceremony, Head of Administration, Abu Bakarr Fofanah Esq., expressed appreciation to guests and supporters for their contribution to the success of the event. He noted that despite limited resources, the institution has continued to provide scholarships to deserving students as part of its contribution to community development. He called on stakeholders and philanthropists to increase support towards improving access to quality education.

Also addressing the gathering, the Vice Chancellor of Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology Magburaka Campus, Enoch Terlumum Iortyom, welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of the occasion. He encouraged students to make good use of their time and to take every stage of their academic journey seriously, noting that education remains a key driver of personal and national progress.

Delivering his keynote address, Jagaban congratulated the graduating class of 2026 for their resilience, hard work and determination. He described the moment as one of celebration and reflection, urging graduates to think deeply about how they will apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies.

He stressed that education should not end in certificates but must translate into meaningful contributions to society. He encouraged students to embrace discipline, remain focused and strive to create positive impact in their communities and beyond.

Jagaban also shared aspects of his personal journey, noting that he rose from humble beginnings to his current position. He revealed his ambition to lead the APC and contest for the presidency in 2028, stating that his vision is anchored on sustainable development and improving the lives of Sierra Leoneans.

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to service, stating that leadership should be about making a difference rather than seeking personal gain.
