Edgard D. Lacle, the national spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses, addressed local media today to announce the organization’s annual district convention series, set to begin on November 8 in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
The convention, themed “Declare the Good News,” aims to offer a positive message amid what Lacle described as a flood of negative news in the world. The event is free, open to the public, and designed to promote hope and encouragement.
The convention series, running globally since May 2024, will unfold across multiple weekends in two locations: the Sussex Expandable Kingdom Hall and the Waterloo Expandable Kingdom Hall, each set to host two three-day gatherings.
Convention dates for Sussex are November 8-10 and November 15-17, while Waterloo will host on November 22-24 and November 29-December 1. Friday and Saturday sessions run from 9:20 a.m. to 4:50 p.m., and Sunday sessions from 9:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a one-hour and 20-minute lunch break each day.
This year’s convention offers Bible-based discourses, interviews, and short films across three days, exploring themes such as “Everlasting Good News – In What Sense?” and “Hold Firmly to the Good News – Why and How?” Organizers highlight a special Bible drama, “The Good News According to Jesus: The True Light of the World,” which will be presented in two parts on Friday and Saturday. The drama will portray the early life of Jesus, from his miraculous birth to his time spent in Egypt, and his return to Israel, featuring stories designed to captivate audiences and reinforce the Biblical messages central to the convention.
Each day’s program will feature unique highlights. Friday’s session will examine the historical accuracy of the Gospels. Saturday will address prophecies about Jesus’ birth and childhood, while also hosting a public baptism. On Sunday, the convention will culminate in a talk titled “Why We Don’t Fear Bad News,” offering insight into how Jehovah’s Witnesses find security in their faith amid current world challenges.
As convention preparations continue, Lacle expressed gratitude for the volunteers who have contributed to the event setup, saying the collaboration exemplifies “an unbelievable spirit of unity.” He encouraged the public and members of the press to attend the conventions, emphasizing the uplifting nature of the programming.
