Considering his role and level of commitments in the protection and promotion of the rights of people from all shades of society, the Human Rights Commission- Sierra Leone (HRCSL), Tuesday 10th December 2024, honoured Lawyer Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara with a prestigious Human Rights award during a presentation ceremony at the Freetown International Conference Centre Bintumani- Aberdeen, West of Freetown.
Observed with the theme ‘‘Celebrating 20 Years of Excellence and Independence in the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights in Sierra Leone,’’ the occasion attracted dignitaries from public, private sectors, politicians, members of the diplomatic community and host of representatives from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
Speaking after he received the National and International award as the only surviving recipient, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara said, “I dedicate this award to the vulnerable, the poor and the weak who are somewhere suffering. We wish them all the best. We can only do what we can. ”
He encouraged all to join hands and work for the betterment of Sierra Leone.
Lawyer Kamara sealed his acceptance speech by saying that against the background of many other distinguished International and National Awards, the plaque represents a new generation of HOPE for Sierra Leone.
