Freetown, Sierra Leone – In a formal and well-attended handing-over ceremony at the Sierra Leone Housing Corporation (SALHOC), Joseph Munda Sandi has officially assumed office as the new General Manager of the institution, receiving the leadership mantle from the outgoing General Manager, Ing. Charles Musa.
The event, chaired by Deputy General Manager Emmanuel H. Tommy, marked the transition with the introduction of the newly appointed Board of Directors, outgoing and incoming leadership, and senior management of the corporation.
Speaking at the occasion, Board Chairperson, Madam Kadie Zorokong Kabba, expressed her delight in witnessing the significant transition. She commended the outgoing General Manager for his six years of dedicated service, acknowledging his efforts in managing the corporation. She also extended a warm welcome to Joseph Munda Sandi, assuring him of the Board’s support in advancing SALHOC’s mission.
A representative from the National Commission for Privatisation (NCP), Anthony S. Jongowai, praised Ing. Charles Musa for his tenure and urged the new General Manager to build on his predecessor’s achievements. He emphasized the urgent need for improved housing solutions in Sierra Leone, calling on the new leadership to drive the corporation towards greater successes and heights.
Outgoing General Manager’s Farewell Address, in his remarks, Ing. Charles Musa reflected on his six years at the helm of SALHOC, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve. He officially handed over the leadership package to Joseph Munda Sandi, encouraging the new General Manager to continue the corporation’s mission with dedication and vision.
New General Manager’s Vision whiles making his statement, Joseph Munda Sandi expressed appreciation to President Julius Maada Bio for entrusting him with public office for the second time. He reassured staff that his tenure would be marked by delivery and purpose-driven leadership.
“The outgoing General Manager has done his best and we will learn from both his successes and challenges,” Sandi stated. He emphasized that housing is a fundamental human right and a key factor in national development. He stressed that poverty alleviation and economic growth cannot be achieved without addressing the housing deficit, noting that proper housing restores human dignity.
He further highlighted his commitment to working with the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning, the Ministry of Finance, and other key stakeholders in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, which focuses on sustainable cities and communities.
Addressing his new team, he called for commitment and hard work, stating: “I am a friend to many but an enemy to laziness” he remarked.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the Deputy General Manager, marking the beginning of a new chapter in SALHOC’s leadership.
