The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has slammed an injunction on the Sierra Leone Premier League that commenced on the 3rd November 2023. According to the High Court of Sierra Leone, the injunction came as a result of a matter that was filed by Kamboi Eagles a team from Kenema that relegated from the Sierra Leone Premier League last season.
According to Kamboi Eagles, they think that there were a lot of irregularities in the 2022/2023 Premier League season in the country and those matters need to be addressed before the new season will start. The decision from the High Court came as a surprise to many football loving fans considering the excitement they fans have to see their various teams play in the country top flight League.
However, the Sierra Leone Premier League Board has issued out a press release dated Saturday 4th November 2023, stated that all Premier League matches across the country will go ahead as planned despite the High Court injunction that was announced on the 3rd November 2023, by the Judiciary of Sierra Leone to stop all matches until issues of alleged irregularities in a matter filed by Kamboi Eagles are determined by the Court.
“The Sierra Leone Premier League Board would like to inform the public and premier league clubs that the games slated the 4th-5th November 2023 will proceed as scheduled,” the release stated.
