As part of ongoing diaspora engagements within the All People’s Congress, Abubakarr Kamara-Taylor accompanied Mustapha Azick Conteh (popularly known as Port Loko Borbor), the APC Diaspora Young Congress Leader, on a courtesy visit to Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, a prominent aspirant for the APC flagbearer position.
The engagement took place in the United Kingdom and formed part of preparations for the 3rd Edition of the APC Diaspora Young Congress Fundraising and Celebration Night, scheduled for 28 March 2026. The fundraising event is expected to serve as an important platform for strengthening diaspora support, mobilising resources, and reinforcing party unity among APC members abroad.
Strategic Engagement with a Flagbearer Aspirant
The meeting with Dr. Ibrahim Bangura provided a valuable opportunity for dialogue between senior party actors and one of the party’s emerging national leaders. As a flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Bangura’s presence and participation in the engagement underscored the importance of inclusive consultations among party stakeholders as the APC continues internal discussions on leadership, strategy, and future electoral prospects.
During the interaction, Abubakarr Kamara-Taylor utilised the opportunity to extend his ongoing consultations with diaspora stakeholders, exchanging views on party organisation, unity, and the strategic direction required to strengthen the APC’s structures both within Sierra Leone and across its global networks.
Presence of Key Party Stakeholders
The engagement was also attended by several notable APC personalities who contribute to the party’s organisational strength across different regions and diaspora structures. Among those present were Sylvester Sheku Suaray (widely known as Triple S) – the APC Deputy Southern Regional Chairperson, Khalid Kamara – the APC UK & Ireland District Organising Secretary, Comrade Billard, and other respected party stakeholders.
Their participation reflected the spirit of collaboration and the continued commitment of APC members in the diaspora to support party activities, strengthen organisational coordination, and promote unity among party structures.
Strengthening Diaspora Collaboration
The visit highlighted the growing importance of the APC diaspora community as a key partner in party mobilisation, strategic dialogue, and resource generation. By engaging both national aspirants and grassroots organisers abroad, leaders such as Kamara-Taylor continue to reinforce the party’s tradition of broad consultations and inclusive participation.
Conclusion
The meeting with Dr. Ibrahim Bangura and other diaspora stakeholders represents another step in strengthening communication and collaboration within the APC. As preparations continue for the upcoming fundraising event and broader party engagements, such consultations remain vital in building consensus, promoting unity, and positioning the party for future political success.
