The Kingdom Academy International Primary School (KAIPS) situated in the Kissy Town community, Waterloo concludes its third (3rd) Graduation Ceremony on Sunday 18th, June, 2023 in the School compound.
Eight pupils graduated from Nursery three to Class One. Two males and six females.
Kingdom Academy was established in September, 2019 by Mrs Sonnita Thorma Abdulai. She deemed it necessary to establish the first Private School in the Kissy Town community in order to augment the standards of education in the locality. When asked why did she establish the school?
“Kingdom Academy was established as a results of the passion I’ve for education and humanity, capacity building and transformation of lives. When I came into this community, I realised that, children goes to school but they lacked care, passion for school, cancelling in school and the diverse aspect of nurturing children. Because, education is not only going to the class room but learning other things in the school curriculum”. Sonnita stated.
Education is a change for development especially the human development index. The kids needs to be physically fit, morally and academically good in the society. Kingdom Academy initially started as a summer school, move on to a day-care and later progress to Nursery school which eventually ended to be the Kingdom Academy International Primary School, Kissy Town community, Waterloo.
Mrs Abdulai said it was as a result of her childhood experienced of going to school also motivated her to establish the Kingdom Academy.
“The community are contributing to the school by sending their children because of the trust they have in the school and the founder. Some community members contribute materially and physically. The community is contributing towards the success of the school because they allow me to operate as a Private institution and participates in all the school activities in diverse ways”. She noted.
The founder of the school said she encountered enormous challenges as administrator of the school. The community is a small environment and the educational rate is not as high as compare to other communities.
“In terms of paying school fees is a big challenge. Parents can’t afford to pay their children fees and it’s a great challenge. Kingdom Academy is a baby school just been established and depends on tuition fees to run the school. So, if parents cannot afford to pay their children’s school fees, how can the school be administratively functioning”. She conclude.
