The Kono District Football Association is set to commence their second edition of the District League in Kono District.
The Association is geared up to launch its highly anticipated second edition of the District League.
This, it’s as a result of the pledged made the Chairman of the Kono District Football Association, Abu Bakar Mansaray, during his campaign for the Chairmanship position in Kono.
The chairman and his dedicated executive team are all set to kick off the annual District League competition on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
This upcoming edition will feature 21 football clubs from within the district vying for the prestigious trophies, medals, and cash prizes. In contrast to the previous edition which had 32 teams, the decision was made by the FA to reduce the number of participating teams due to some clubs failing to fulfil their fixtures in the first edition, leading to their exclusion this time around.
Chairman Mansaray, who had promised passionate sports fans during his campaign that consistent football leagues would be organized to enhance player development within the district, remains fully committed to this vision.
In a bid to further motivate and reward participants, significant enhancements have been made to the prize structure. The winners and runners-up of this year’s competition will receive twenty thousand Leones (20,000) along with gold medals for the champions and silver medals for the runners-up, surpassing the prize amounts of fifteen thousand Leones (15,000) awarded in the first edition.
“I will continue in my dedication to fulfilling the promises outlined in my campaign manifesto, despite encountering challenges,” stated Abu Mans, Chairman of the Kono District Football Association, expressing his firm resolve to uphold his commitments to the active and productive administration of football in the District.
