The Sierra Leone People’s Party Member of Parliament MP Hon. Mohamed Billoh Shaw representing Falaba District also a member of Committee on Tourism and Cultural Affairs discovered that since 2004 to 2009 the General Manager of Roy Hotel Rajaa Eljawhari have been fulfilling or rendering his coperate social responsibility to the Aberdeen Community.
The chairperson of the committee Hon. Mohamed Rahman Coker Sheriff ordered him to furnish the committee’s clerk with the establishment certificate of the hotel from 2004 to 2009 on Tuesday 27, February 2024, before the day ends.
Unanimously, the Committee on Tourism and Cultural Affairs further ordered the General Manager of Roy Hotel, Rajaa Eljawhari to produce the remaining documents including Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certificate, registration license among others relevant to the committee clerk in a week period.
Hon. Shaw said the General Manager, Rajaa Eljawhari have defied or declined the committee’s order thrice adding that it a clear manifestation that the General Manager Rajaa Eljawhari, don’t have respect and regard for the committee that supervised their works.
Hon. Shaw said inasmuch as, the General Manager Rajaa Eljawhari don’t have registration certificate from National Tourism Board the said hotel is not supposed to be operating in Sierra Leone for the past years.
According to Mr. Eljawhari, he had employed two foreigner nationals, a cash and Store Manager.
When Hon. Mohamed Billoh Shaw asked why he, the General Manager preferred to employ foreigner nationals in key positions why Sierra Leoneans graduates are languishing and Pershing looking for job. Responding, Mr Eljawhari said he had once employed a Sierra Leonean as an accountant name withheld who allegedly defrauded.
According to him, he has 35 workers including two foreigners. Mr. Eljawhari said since the establishment of the hotel, he had done so much for Aberdeen community, adding that hr was supervised to hear when he was informed by the committee that he since 2004 to 2009 he had not been fulfilling his cooperate social responsibility.
