Boss LAJ, real name Alhaji Amadu Bah, the CEO of Red Flag Music (RFM) who was recently given a full pardon by president Bio after spending one year six months in prison, has been appointed as a peace ambassador in an effort to promote peace in the country.
The decision to appoint Boss LAJ as a peace ambassador has been met with mixed reactions from the public. While some praised the move as a step towards reconciliation and forgiveness, others criticized it as a slap in the face of his accusers.
In a press release issued out by the government on Monday 12th February 2024, it outlined several roles Boss LAJ could serve if he accepted the proposal. Among those were, assist in the promotion of peace, reconciliation and unity in Sierra Leone and peace related matters abroad; assist in building peace cultures, enhance tolerance and support peaceful resolution of conflicts, and any other duties assigned by His Excellency the President from time to time.
Some citizens remain scptical of Boss LAJ intentions and worry that he may use his new position to further his own interests. The appointment of Boss LAJ as a peace ambassador comes amidst the prevailing state of affairs in the country and the controversies surrounded the entertainment industry in Sierra Leone. Whether or not this controversial move will prove to be an effective solution remains to be seen.
