As part of his mandates to encourage entrepreneurs to invest on housing infrastructure, the Minister of Lands, Housing and Country Planning Dr Turad Senesie has visited the Sugar Land Estate at 6 Mile, Kono Town layout, Waterloo in the Western Rural Urban District, 26 miles from the capital city of Freetown.
The visit forms significant part of the minister’s vision to actualize government’s goal not only on lands but also on housing development, and by extension encouraging Sierra Leonean entrepreneurs, direct foreign investments as well as other philanthropists to work in collaboration with the line Ministry in promoting housing sector in the county.
Dr Senesie encouraged local and international housing developers to count on government’s support.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ATJ Holdings, Dr Albert Senesie registered firm commitment of his company with fixed focused in making sure that affordable housing challenges are adequately addressed in Sierra Leone. He said providing affordable housing at cost effective rate to low-income earners is the prime focus of him ATJ Holdings, adding that his objective has long been presented to the Minister of Lands and the minister was pleased to support his vision. The ATJ Holding CEO added that the project has provided employment and job training opportunity for over twenty-eight (28) youths.
He furthered that the Sugar Land Estate is a new development of the largest affordable and luxury housing community in Sierra Leone.
“The estate is in 6 Mile, 150 yards from Waterloo-Masiaka highway. We have erected structures on 65 acres of land that contain luxury, affordable, gated estate with clubhouse, landscaping, water reticulation, sewage and solar renewable energy electricity systems and it will be a housing estate with over one thousand (1,000) homes upon completion”, he said.
Dr Senesie disclosed that the facilities are well designed with swimming pools, security, uninterrupted electricity and water supply.
