Mamadu Juldeh Barrie, a 22-year-old motor mechanic, Monday, 27th January 2025, made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 on one count charge of Larceny -contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused, on Tuesday, 24th October 2024, at Brookfields- Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, did steal bales from a vehicle- CX7 Mazda, without registration number; one Cylinder Head gasket- valued four hundred and fifty Leones (Le450); four (4) ignition coils- each valued six hundred Leones (600)- total of two thousand four hundred Leones (2,400); four (4) spark plugs, each valued one hundred and twenty Leones (120)- total of four hundred and eighty Leones (480); sixteen (16), each valued four hundred Leones (400)- total of four thousand (4000); quiring system valued three thousand Leones (3000); Sousor- valued five hundred Leones (500)- total valued of ten thousand, eight hundred and thirty Leones (10,830)- property of Donald Sesay.
When the charge was read and put to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty.
The state prosecutor- Bailey, sought for a short date to have a proper conference with her witness.
The accused was not legally represented in the matter.
Magistrate Bangura granted the accused bail in the sum of 10,000.00 with a surety in like sum, the bail condition to be approved by the master and Deputy Assistant Registrar.
The matter was adjourned to 14th of February 2025, for further proceedings.
