In a bold demonstration of its commitment to gender inclusivity and empowerment, Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG)continues to break barriers by creating opportunities for women to thrive in traditionally male-dominated fields within the mining industry.

The company has successfully integrated women across a wide range of operational and technical roles  from engineers and supervisors to skilled machine operators. Through continuous training and mentorship programs, LRMG ensures women are not only represented but equipped with the expertise to excel in key areas of mining operations.

One of the shining examples of this initiative is Kadiatu Mansaray, a Sierra Leonean woman who has benefited from the company’s training program. Expressing her gratitude, Kadiatu shared:

“I am very pleased with the company for teaching me how to operate machines like front-end loaders, excavators, articulated dump trucks, bulldozers, and graders at the mine site. Leone Rock creates space for women engineers and ensures that women can occupy senior positions as well. I am happy with the skills I’ve gained for free they have boosted my confidence and helped me build a stable career.”

These specialized trainings are part of LRMG’s broader Women in Mining Empowerment Program, which aims to upskill female employees and promote inclusivity across all operational levels. The initiative aligns with the Government of Sierra Leone’s 30% women’s representation quota, reinforcing the company’s dedication to national development goals and corporate social responsibility.

Beyond training, LRMG continues to provide a supportive work environment that fosters equality, safety, and professional growth for women. By empowering women to operate heavy-duty mining equipment such as Komatsu excavators, Caterpillar bulldozers, Volvo haul trucks, and Hitachi wheel loaders, the company not only enhances efficiency but also inspires the next generation of women in mining.

Through these efforts, Leone Rock Metal Group sets a new standard for gender inclusion in the extractive industry proving that when women are given the tools and opportunities to succeed, entire communities move forward.
