Following their recent 2:1 win against Djibouti at the EL Abdul Stadium in Morocco, the Sierra Leone National Men’s team, Leone Stars, has secured a vital point against Burkina Faso in the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Leone Stars came from two goals down to earn a vital 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso. Goals from Augustus Kargbo and Amadou Bakayoko earned Leone Stars the draw in a hard fight but still worth it after all.
In a fascinating encounter on Monday 11 June 2024, Leone Stars fought back from a 2:0 deficit in the first half to secure a 2:2 draw against Burkina Faso. This hard-earned point showcases the resilience and determination of the team.

After the match Leone Stars Head Coach, Amidu Karim, noted that he is trying to develop a healthy squad as they pull off the wheels to hit beyond the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
He made this remark immediately after Leone Stars’ resilient 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso on Monday in Bamako, Mali.
Daunted by the first half 2-0 bite, Coach Amidu Karim said fear crawled up his spine as he developed bad feeling. “But I went into the locker room and calmed down our boys, assuring them that it was not over yet; we can still make it,” he maintained.
On the outing, Amidu Karim described the two matches (against Djibouti and Burkina Faso) as difficult. “Because we prepared for them, we were able to conquer,” he said.
