In a major boost to Sierra Leone’s road safety and emergency response infrastructure, Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) has donated six motorbikes, walkie-talkies, and computers to the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA). This donation is a strategic intervention aimed at enhancing the Authority’s operational effectiveness, particularly in areas requiring rapid response and improved communication.

At a formal handover ceremony, the Executive Director of SLRSA, Mr. James Baggie Bio, expressed deep appreciation for LRMG’s timely support. He noted that the donation aligns closely with the Authority’s ongoing reforms and modernization efforts.

“This contribution from LRMG is more than just equipment it represents a commitment to saving lives,” said Mr. Bio. “With these motorbikes, our teams can respond swiftly to road incidents, while the walkie-talkies and computers will streamline communication and data management across our operations.”

Mr. Bio also took the opportunity to highlight some of the transformative initiatives being rolled out under his leadership. These include the deployment of mobile workstations to enable on-the-spot vehicle registration and licensing, the extension of service hours to include Saturdays for increased public access, and collaborative efforts with stakeholders such as the Car Dealers Union to enforce vehicle compliance with national safety standards.

The logistical challenges historically faced by the SLRSA have often hindered effective enforcement and emergency response. With the support from LRMG, the Authority is now better positioned to meet its mandate of ensuring safer roads and reducing accidents across Sierra Leone.

This collaboration between LRMG and SLRSA serves as a compelling example of how public-private partnerships can drive national development and improve public welfare. LRMG, a long-standing development partner to the government, continues to demonstrate its commitment to contributing positively to Sierra Leone’s growth and infrastructure.

As the nation grapples with increasing road traffic and urban expansion, such partnerships are crucial to building a resilient and responsive road safety system that safeguards lives and supports national progress.
