Patient Kanu is currently in hiding having been declared wanted by the Sierra Leone for alleged involvement in the August 10th, 2022 protest, staged against economic hardship and high cost of living in the country.

She was a social activist and an anti-violent campaigner who until her escaped for safety worked with scores of youth groups and young adults in several communities in Lunsar, Port Loko district North-West and in Freetown, Police alleged that Patient Kanu was on Wednesday 10th August seen at protest scenes.

She was however later accused by the Police of alleged incitements and being one of the planners of the protest that claimed dozens of lives and destroyed properties worth millions of Leones.

Reports are that it is against the backdrop of her alleged involvement that the Police have declared her wanted with constant manhunts for her, revealed a family member.

The family member added that most of those who were suspected of having link to alleged protesters have all gone into hiding, also for fear of getting arrested and detained by the Police or charged to court.

Since Patient was declared wanted by the Police so many arrests and detentions have been made without trial.

Report further indicated that Kanu spent several weeks hiding in bushes for fear of Police intimidation, arrest and detention before she left the country to seek refugee elsewhere abroad and family members remain curiously worried over the exact whereabouts of her.

As a result of persistent Police highhandedness in carrying out investigations of alleged planners of the August 10th protest, Patient Kanu went immediately into hiding for her safety, at an unknown location.

According to report other young people were arrested, detained and killed in cold blooded by security personnel in Freetown and in the north.

Prominent among those gunned down in broad daylight was Hassan Dumbuya alias Evangelist Samson who shot dead in Makeni by military personnel.

The more reasons so many Sierra Leoneans are fleeing the country to seek refuge in other abroad and according to report Patient Kanu can be only safe with freedom out of Sierra Leone. Report furthered that there is still intensified manhunt for her.
