By way of reinforcing its continuous political intimidation of main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) members and supporters across the country, the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) East District Chairman, Manso Dumbuya and the Chief Executive Officer of the Gento Group of Company last Saturday 30th May blatantly violated the Coronavirus – COVID social distancing protocol by conveying a political campaign meeting at Tonko Limba Chiefdom Kambia district.
As part of measures put in place for the containment of the virus, Government had banned all public gatherings including religious congregations at Mosques and Churches, but the SLPP East District Chairman Dumbuya in his desperation to illegally unseat Hon. Kargbo, conveyed a campaign meeting.
The unlawful meeting was jointly conveyed by the SLPP East district Chairman Dumbuya and CEO Gento Kamara along with the senior lawmakers of the ruling party, to campaign the people of Constituency 058, Tonko Limba Chiefdom against a sitting APC Hon. Member of Parliament, Alusine Orsaio Kargbo, fondly known as Scorpion.
Hon. Kargbo alias is in active service whiles the ruling SLPP’s Dumbuya and Gento are busy campaigning in his constituency trying to replace him, an activity that took APC and rational minded SLPP members and supporters by surprise.
However as by law, the ruling SLPP party is not supposed to be campaigning for the seat of an active parliamentary just to replace him with East District Chairman Dumbuya.
In a frantic efforts are reaching the SLPP East District Chairman, Manso Dumbuya, the Secretary General, Umaru Napoleon Koroma and the SLPP National Organizing Secretary for their party’s side of the story prove futile.
Out investigations into the unwarranted political campaigning and blatant violations of COVID19 Social distancing protocol will continue.
