Steven Jacod Amara, a 23-year- old, was again arraigned before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 on Monday, 3rd February 2025, on one count charge of House Breaking and Larceny- Contrary to Section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charge sheet, the accused, on Wednesday, 18th December 2024 at No 12 FAO Drive Crab Town, Aberdeen- Freetown, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, break and entered into the House of Emmanuel Adeyemi Shaw with intent to steal, and did steal three bundles of DVC Ceiling Sheets- each valued at one Thousand three Hundred Leones (NLe 1,300.00)- to the total of three thousand nine hundred Leones (NLe 3,900.00), two (2) piece 3 feet 6 inches foam mattresses, each valued six thousand, six hundred and eighty lions, five cents (NLe 6,682.5) – to the total value of thirteen thousand three hundred and sixty-five Leones ( NLe 13,365.00), five (5) cartons floor tiles, each valued four hundred Leones (NLe 400.00)- to the total value of two thousand Leones (NLe 2,000.00), and one EDSA meter valued at three thousand Leones ( NLe 3,000.00), all to the total value of twenty-two thousand, two hundred and sixty- five Leones (NLe 22,265.00), property of the said Emmanuel Adeyemi Shaw whilst in the custody of Abdul Amidu Koroma.
When the charge was read and put to the accused person, no plea was taken as he is not legally represented so far.
The prosecution counsel- 18235 Thoronka, led in witness Ishmael Richard Koroma, who is a mason that recognized the complainant and the accused in the matter as one of his neighbors.
He recalled that the period between the 14th December 2024, something happened which he knows as he was going out to get credit.
He said he saw the accused friend coming out of the complainant’s compound with his tiles, pointing out that he saw and did recognize his friend.
Richard mentioned that when he returned, he could not see the accused; and he explained the incident to the complainant, adding that, he later made a statement to the police.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused person to remand in the male correctional center in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned to 10thFebruary, 2025 for the continuation of the trial.
