On Saturday 12th April 2025 the Minister of Internal Affairs, Rtd AIG Morie Lengor Esq. participated in a Peace Match in the township of Koindu organized by the United Christian Evangelical Fellowship International with membership from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. It was attended by hundreds of people. He addressed the gathering and they offered prayers at selected locations in the township for a Peaceful Resolution of the Yenge issue. There were representatives from Guinea and Liberia and hundreds of people attended. The resonating message was, the people wanted peace between the three countries and that they didn’t want war. The Minister entreated with the Guinean representatives to help because the people of Yenga and Koindu were frustrated and tired of the present situation. He also addressed a meeting of the Local Police Partnership Board attended by Stakeholders of the three Kissis including their Paramount Chiefs and Regents.
He reassured them that Government was not oblivious of the Yenga situation, that HE and the Cabinet were seized of it and that they were working actively and doing everything possible to resolve the situation and pleaded with them to continue to exercise patience and keep the peace.
They were happy that a Government Minister was there to support and address them on these burning matters. Minister returned to Kailahun to participate in the traditional laying to rest of a legend and icon of Kailahun, the Rtd Captain Sahr James Foyah of the NRC fame.
