The Minister of Youth Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Sannoh, has joined members of the Muslim community, young people, and diplomatic representatives at an iftar hosted by the Turkish Embassy in Sierra Leone. The event took place at Sport Zone and was marked by an atmosphere of reflection, fellowship, and mutual respect during the holy month of Ramadan.
The gathering brought together youths from different backgrounds alongside members of the Muslim Ummah to break the fast in unity. It also served as a platform for dialogue between young people and diplomatic partners, reinforcing shared values of peace, cooperation, and understanding.
Addressing the youths at the event, Minister Sannoh spoke on the importance of remaining steadfast in Islamic faith while practicing the principles of peace, tolerance, and compassion that Islam teaches. He reminded young people that Ramadan is not only a period of fasting but also a time for spiritual renewal, self discipline, and service to humanity.
The Minister encouraged young people to see themselves as ambassadors of harmony within their communities. He stressed that youths have a critical role to play in promoting peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and national unity, particularly in a diverse society like Sierra Leone. According to him, the teachings of Islam provide a strong foundation for nurturing responsible citizens who contribute positively to social development.
Minister Sannoh also highlighted the role of faith based engagement in youth development, noting that moral guidance and spiritual values are essential complements to education, skills training, and employment initiatives. He urged youths to channel the lessons of Ramadan into their daily lives by demonstrating honesty, empathy, and a commitment to the common good.
Representatives of the Turkish Embassy expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and the young people who attended the iftar. They described the event as a reflection of the strong and friendly relations between Turkey and Sierra Leone, particularly in areas of cultural exchange, youth engagement, and people to people cooperation.
The embassy officials noted that such gatherings help strengthen bonds of friendship while promoting dialogue across communities. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives that bring young people together and encourage shared understanding through cultural and religious activities.
Participants at the iftar described the event as meaningful and timely, especially during Ramadan when reflection and unity are central themes. Many youths welcomed the opportunity to interact with government officials and diplomatic partners in an informal and spiritually uplifting setting.
The iftar concluded with prayers for peace, national cohesion, and continued cooperation between Sierra Leone and its international partners. The event underscored the importance of faith, dialogue, and youth engagement in building a peaceful and inclusive society.
