The Ministry of Youth Affairs (MOYA) has taken another bold step in advancing the youth development agenda, following the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sierra Leone.

This strategic partnership is designed to accelerate opportunities for young people across the country by enhancing skills development, fostering entrepreneurship, and creating clear pathways to decent and sustainable employment. The collaboration also places strong emphasis on youth leadership, civic engagement, and inclusive participation in national development.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Minister of Youth Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Sannoh, reaffirmed the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to placing young people at the heart of national transformation. He emphasized that the agreement with UNDP represents not just a policy framework but a call to action, ensuring that Sierra Leone’s youthful population is empowered with the tools, knowledge, and platforms needed to thrive.

“This partnership speaks to the vision of the Ministry in ensuring that no young person is left behind. By investing in skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship, we are not only securing the future of our young people but also safeguarding the future of Sierra Leone,” Hon. Sannoh stated.

The MoU underscores a shared recognition that young people are the cornerstone of Sierra Leone’s future and a driving force for national progress and prosperity. Through this collaboration, MOYA and UNDP will work jointly to strengthen existing youth empowerment initiatives, align them with global standards, and expand their reach to impact more lives across the country.

This initiative also resonates with international commitments, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by promoting inclusive growth, reducing inequalities, and creating an enabling environment for young people to realize their full potential.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs continues to demonstrate leadership in mobilizing partnerships and resources to ensure that Sierra Leone’s youthful population remains a catalyst for positive change and sustainable development.
