The Mobile Health Clinic Buses launched a month ago by President Julius Maada Bio have become toys at Youyi Building in Freetown, concerned citizens have voiced out.
It would be recalled that the buses were launched for the purpose of providing free and accessible health care to all the one hundred and forty-nine chiefdoms across Sierra Leone.
However, concerned citizens said, since the Mobile Health Clinic was launched the buses had been dumped by the Ministry of Health and Sanitation for reasons unknown to the public.
Since the buses were launched and kept at one location, Forum has gathered that citizens had not ceased asking why the buses were kept in front of Youyi Building instead of releasing them to perform their health care duties across communities to reach out to the sick and unfortunate in various communities across the country.
Forum also learnt that the Ministry of Health is considered to have failed to present the buses for their intended purposes, as “barely more than two months now community people are still waiting for the buses”.
Furthermore, Forum visited the Ministry of Health and Sanitation to talk to the Public Relations Officer, who stated that the buses would soon commence operation. “But how long could these buses be stationed at one location and prevented from moving to various communities to perform health duties and attend to sick people,” the concerned citizens continued to express frustration
