In the ongoing Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League, the reigning champions, Mogbwemo Queens have trashed Vem Buck by 7 goals to nil. The champions are now just one point from possible six to be crowned champions of the SLE Women’s Premier League 2023/2024.
This mouth-watering encounter between two female sides took place at the newly refurbished Approved School Field in the East End of Freetown.
Salamatu J. Kamara opened the scoring in the 10th minute of play and went on to complete a hat-trick, adding an assist to her outstanding performance, which earned her the Woman of the Match accolade.
Returning from national duty, skipper Kadiatu M. Kamara played a pivotal role in the emphatic triumph, contributing four assists and a goal. Wuya Mohai and Rashida Kamara added a goal each, while Fatmata Turay netted her fourth goal of the season.
With two matches remaining, Mogbwemo Queens are poised to be crowned champions for a record second consecutive time, should they secure a draw against Mena Queens on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
This triumph has positioned the league leaders to defend their title, needing just a single point against Mena Queens and Albitaya Queens.
Moreover, Mogbwemo Queens FC are poised to defend their title for a second consecutive time. The girls from Rutile are on the verge of being crowned champions once again now only need one point from their remaining two league games to secure the title. Currently, the Queens from Rutile have 58 points in 20 games played. Mogbwemo Queens FC will travel North East to play Mena Queens at the Wusum field on Sunday, could be the crowning moment for the champions await.
