The Diamond Centre College, situated at Percival Street in Freetown has conducted a certification ceremony for its first graduate. The event took place on Monday, January 30th, 2023, at the college’s arena. The recently accredited Diamond Centre College offers various diamond related courses that have immense significance in society.
Proprietor of the College, David Chris Nze during his statement spoke on how the campus offers numerous courses, adding that they are very rigorous in making someone to be fully schooled in diamond related programs. He added that the diamond industry was a lucrative one that greatly provides employment opportunities for people the world over. Proprietor Nze stated that students that go through the college will be able to analyze diamonds, among other things. He said that sixteen (16) modules are offered during the course, but that one would be awarded a certificate, having passed fourteen (14) of the 16 designated courses. He thanked the Lecturers, students, partners, parents and all and sundry for believing in the vision and mission of the campus and the institution.
The graduand, Rosemond Saffie Lossie who happened to be the first female Sierra Leonean diamond certified personnel stated how excited she was, having successfully completed the course. She said that she hopes to make a judicious usage of her certificate, adding that the Diamond Centre College greatly caters for its students. She encouraged other females and ladies to go in for the courses, noting that the diamond industry may be male dominated, but that it should only be limited to and for men.
The Diamond Centre College Proprietor further stated that one who may have gone through the college will be able to understand the classification of diamonds and to know the differences between the fake and the real diamonds.
He ended by thanking the government of Sierra Leone for giving the campus an opportunity and the NCTVA for the accreditation, noting that the campus is in Sierra Leone to continue to attain more progress and positives.
One good thing about the college is that one could comfortably be working whiles studying there. The one-month programme will make one to attain a certificate in rough diamond evaluation which is a plus in one’s career.
