On 25th October 2022, Philanthropist, CEO and Founder of Nyali Foundation, Ms Fatima Mahawa Sandi was appointed by His Excellency Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio as the new Deputy Executive Director of National Investment Board of Sierra Leone.Ms Fatima Mahawa Sandi has a Bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in procurement and chain management. She last worked at the Ministry of Finance as a Procurement Specialist. She spent 13 years working in public sector financing and procurement; including managing investment portfolios of key international financial institutions and donor partners such as the World Bank, Department for International Development (DFID), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The National Investment Board is responsible to coordinate, facilitate and promote investments in Sierra Leone. “During the period of not having a job, I reflected on how I can become a public servant in a more impactful way. I see this as a new challenge and a step up for me”. Said Ms. Sandi
Ms. Sandi is the Founder and CEO of Nyali Foundation, a non-profitable charity organization geared towards promoting development and well-being of the less privileged in Sierra Leone. She has been consistently advocating for the rights and privileges of youths in Sierra Leone and donating items such as food stuffs and clothing to the less privileged. This is a good decision by the President to add Ms Fatima Mahawa Sandi to deputize as the Executive Director of NIB, given her vast experience on International investments, this is a big plus to the National Investment Board. As she will use her technicality and experience to develop the Board. “I am looking forward to working collaboratively with the team in executing the vision of National Investment Bank”.
