The Member of Parliament from Kambia district, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara has accused the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) of omitting the names of over one hundred and sixty thousand (160, 000) pupils from the list of candidates who will take the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) due to the failure of WAEC to allow the affected schools to submit their Continuous Assessment Scores (CAS).
The APC Parliamentarian expressed his disappointment and frustration over this development, noting that most of the affected schools came from the North and Western Area. He pointed out that at a time when the country is battling with Kush, another set of young people are being frustrated by their own system.
He said several people said the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) is aware of this negative development. He drew the attention of President Julius Maada Bio to this development and called for his intervention.
“From the analysis before me, the Mathura Girls School in Tonkolili district and 80% of schools in Bombali district will also not send WASSCE candidates this year. No pupil from Kambia district will sit this year’s WASSCE,” Hon. AKK said in a video that has gone viral.
