A team of the National Sports Authority (NSA) delegation last Friday 15 July 2022 held a successful discussion with the head of Unit Sports, European Commission, Ms Florence Van Houdt at the commission’s headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.After a compelling presentation by the NSA delegation, the head of Unit Sports, European Commission noted the under-mentioned areas with kneeling interests and high optimism for interventions.
Girl Child Sports in Sierra Leone, exchange University Programmes in Sports, Coaching Opportunities for different Sporting Association in Sierra Leone, Administrative Courses/ Training on Sports, Management, and Administrative Programmes for NSA staff.
During the meeting, the Commission also identified a person with a clear mandate to serve as the link between the NSA and the Unit. It also identified institutions for the Commission to explore for funding and other forms of support for the authority.
The NSA delegation also met with Brussel Sporting Association which pledged its commitments toward administrative and technical training courses for sport personnel in Sierra Leone.
NSA also met with the Belgium Football Federation and held fruitful discussion with them on the development of football.
Making a brief statements during their deliberations Managing Director, Dr Abdul Rahaman Swaray informed their hosts the about the creation of the NSA and explained its roles and responsibilities in the promotion, regulation, and development of sports in Sierra Leone.
He reassured that with the required facilities and requisite training to ensure that Sierra Leonean athletes represent the country adequately on global platforms.
The Director of the Brussels Sports Association in Brussels, Madam Lizette Subach, explained the different sporting activities they were engaged in and how they encouraged kids to participate in those activities. She explained how far they had come from being just an informal group to becoming an established nonprofit body operating in Brussels.
The NSA has written an internal memorandum to all Sporting Associations to be sent out correspondences to the authority.
