Official Mpox Situation Update – January 20, 2025

As of today, Sierra Leone has recorded a total of 12 confirmed Mpox (Monkeypox) cases. This represents an increase of 4 new cases since the last report.
The cases are distributed as follows:

– Bo: 2 cases
– Bombali: 2 cases
– Moyamba: 1 case
– Port Loko: 1 case
– Tonkolili: 2 cases
– Western Rural: 2 cases
– Western Urban:2 cases

No recoveries or deaths have been reported at this time.
Public health officials are urging residents to remain vigilant and adhere to recommended preventive measures, including maintaining good hygiene practices, avoiding close contact with infected individuals, and promptly reporting any symptoms to health authorities.
For further updates and information, residents are encouraged to visit the National Public Health Authority’s website at [www.npha.gov.sl] or call the emergency hotline at 117.
