The National Coordinator, Office of National Security, Abdulai Caulker at the tail end of his statement, last Friday 16th June, on the preparedness of the security sector for the upcoming polls, OAU Drive, Tower Hill and Freetown reacted to statement made by the presidential candidate, All People’s Congress (APC) party, Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara.
It could be recalled that at a recently held press conference by Dr. Samura Kamara at the New Brookfield’s Hotel, Freetown indicated the Electoral Commission Sierra Leone commissioners and the security sector as impartial in the discharged of their duties seem hard to be let go by the ONS Boss.
“I wish to conclude my statement by expressing our concern about the disturbing assertion by some members of the public and political parties that some security sector member institutions are bias, impartial and vindictive in the discharged of their functions”, he said.
He disclosed, while such assertions could be said to be based on perception and figments of imagination, he said they can be also demotivating to sincere and hardworking members of the security sector.
“I would like to clearly state that the operations of the security sector are not a political party and has prudence, integrity and professionalism” the ONS Boss stated.
He continued that the security sector is not a political party and has always tried to remain neutral, and not to be influenced by external factors to make it act outside the law.
He ended, grouping that he said are infested by law breakers and members who ordinarily want to take the law into their own hands have always been subject of arrest, detention and prosecution by law enforcement agencies.
