As part of their push for the progress and promotion of the Prince of Wales School, the new Old Prince Walian Association (OPWA) executive Sierra Leone led by the president and vice president II, have Tuesday 26th October 2022, paid a courtesy visit on the OPWA United States chapter executive, at the National Harbour in the US. OPWA Sierra Leone executive delegation was hosted by the president of OPWA Washington DC chapter.This tour is in line with creating a positive engagement with different OPWA executive chapters in the diaspora, consider as key components in the promotion and development of the school.
The meeting between the two executives focused on the consolidation and strengthening ties between OPWA home executive in Sierra Leone, and its diaspora chapters across the world.
The president, OPWA Sierra Leone, Sulaiman Kamara, acknowledged and thanked their host for the warm reception accorded them as well as for support rendered the association over the years by the OPWA US chapter executive.
He said the new OPWA executive back home will endeavour to work in firm collaborations with executives in the diaspora for the progress of the Prince of Wales School.
He further engaged the diaspora team to discuss key issues that are affecting the school and mentioned key areas that the Washington Chapter can support to see the development of the school.
The president said the ‘sea front building’ which is a key project in their agenda, to ensure that it house more pupils in the coming academic years.
Sulaiman Kamara underscored that the School’s Centenary Celebrations is around the corner, and it is a celebration that is going to be done with legacy and prestige.
He further explained that the Freetown chapter cannot do this alone, and therefore they are calling on all the executives in the diaspora to give support to see that the Centenary Celebration become a success.
He urged them to continue to give support in the promotion of education and the development of the school, as the Prince of Wales school is the best and it’s the only government school that has a niche in the country.
The President of the U.S Chapter Executive Shekito Mansaray, affirmed that he is excited to receive the OPWA Executive Freetown Chapter.
He stated that they need such a collaboration to see that the school remains to be on top and be progressive, as they now have a working executive in Sierra Leone that has the same goals and objectives as theirs.
He added that it’s a good and laudable venture, and the OPWA Executive US Chapter will continue to give their support to ensure that development takes place.
The Treasurer for the US Chapter, Abu Koroma, asserted that they are always ready to give their support to the school.
He urged them to be transparent and accountable in whatever they are doing as that will create room for positive development.
They pledged their support to the OPWA Executive Sierra Leone and mentioned that they will work to ensure the ‘SeaFront Building’ which needs a push and an implementation to FasTrack its development.
The Vice President II of OPWA, Alhaji Dauda Musa Bangura assured them of the full support of parent body
He said their support is needed now than any other time as the centaury celebration is just around the corner.
