As part of its continuous enforcement drive to strengthen revenue compliance across public institutions, the National Revenue Authority (NRA) has temporarily sealed off two key government entities: the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) and the Sierra Leone Roads Safety Authority (SLRSA).

The enforcement action, carried out at the Electricity Building in Freetown, which houses EDSA, and at the premises of SLRSA, follows due process and is in line with the NRA’s statutory mandate to recover outstanding tax obligations.

It is on record that EDSA owes government the sum of NLe 328,396,305.03 (Three Hundred and Twenty Eight Million, Three Hundred and Ninety Six Thousand, Three Hundred and Five Leones and Three Cents), while SLRSA has a tax liability of NLe 15,336,611.76 (Fifteen Million, Three Hundred and Thirty Six Thousand, Six Hundred and Eleven Leones and Seventy Six Cents).

In accordance with standard enforcement protocols, staff and management of both EDSA and SLRSA were evacuated from their respective offices, and the affected buildings have been sealed pending resolution of the compliance matters.

The NRA emphasizes that such actions are not punitive, but are necessary steps in promoting transparency, accountability, and the responsible management of public revenue. The Authority remains open to engagement with all institutions and encourages swift resolution through dialogue and cooperation.
