Parliament of Sierra Leone Tuesday 24 June 2024, the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank faced the Public Account Committee (PAC) to address an unresolved issue that has to do with an unapproved policy that should have been submitted after the board’s approval. SLCB officials were summoned by the committee to provide the policy.

The issue was brought to the committee’s attention in previous hearings after it was discovered that the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank had breached its statutory obligations by not submitting an approved policy to the relevant authorities within the stipulated timeframe.

The bank’s officials, led by the Managing Director, Yusufu Abdul Silla, was quick to apologize for not submitting the policy, stating that the policy would be submitted no soon as the SLCB Board meet in the next couples of weeks. He assured PAC that the policy is ready and they are just waiting for the Board Chairman to pen his signature on it.

The chairman of the Public Account Committee who doubles as the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh urged the SLCB Managing Director Silla to summon the board to meet immediately as there are many issues to be resolved. He said, the policy is a soft issue to delay the process and urgent action must be taken.
