On Monday 5 August, 2024, Committee on Appointment and Public Service in the Sixth Parliament chaired by Hon. Sahr Mathew Nyuma has interviewed presidential nominees including Asmaa James, Fatmata Sawanneh , Andrew Keili and five other others.
The eight presidential nominees including Mrs. Asma James proposed Deputy Ambassador of Brussels, Belgium, Fatama Sawaneh proposed deputy Ambassador Conakry Guinea, Mr. Lucien Kallon deputy ambassador designate to Monrovia, Liberia Ing. Andrew Keili proposed chairman Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority, Mr. Kabineh Kallon, proposed chairman of National Revenue Authority, Mr. Edward Lebbie Williams proposed Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority, Rev Thomas Banneh proposed Board Member of Trustees, Sierra Leone Broadcasting Cooperation, Katherine Patricia Turay, proposed Commissioner of Southern Region , Tertiary Education Commission .
The committee interviewed the above-mentioned nominees on resume’ and asset declaration including number of vehicles acquired, the date they were acquired, insurances among others.
The chairman of the Committee on Public Appointment in the Sixth Parliament Hon. Matthew Sahr Nyuma said the purpose of the interview of the nominees is not to embarrass any of them but rather to scrutinise them to ensure that they are fit for purpose.
Hon. Nyuma disclosed that the nominees were interviewed based on their individual documents that contained their résumés and asset declaration which they have presented to the Committee on Appointment and Public Service.
All of the eight nominees were interviewed and ready for approval on Thursday 8th August, 2024 in the Well of Parliament.
