Members of one of the opposition political parties contesting in the June 24th general elections have outrightly rejected the outcome of their recently conducted National Delegates’ Conference.
Prominent among those sounding their total rejections of the outcome of the party’s primaries is the PDP National Interim Secretary General, Alhaji Ben Kamara.
Kamara is quoted to have vowed not recognize the outcome of the so-called convention that has ‘illegally’ re-elected Prince Coker as the PDP National Leader and Chairman, categorically disclaiming that the party’s entire national structure is not aware of the unlawful reelection of Prince Coker.
“We were not even informed about the said convention that has crookedly brought in Coker for another term. There is no way we can continue to accept the undemocratic nature in which the affair of the PDP party is being run. That is why at out level as a national structure, we cannot accept its outcome, nor do we even attempt at recognizing them as an executive of the party. We are certainly going to call for another delegates conference involving the entire national structure that will be held in a free, fair, credible and in transparent manner,” he said.
Kamara said the four PDP Regional Chairmen were never consulted and included in the said convention reiterating adding that they will not recognize the convention because they were never informed. We were shocked to learn that the Prince Coker executive has scrumptiously organized a National Delegates Convention without the consent, approval and the wholistic involvements of all the laid down structures of the PDP party.
The National Secretary General elect, Abu Bakar Bangura said that their election is legal, clearly explaining that all positions were contested for at the March 5th, 2023, convention held in Freetown. He said that the due processes were duly followed by the party for the conduct of the conference. He assured members of the party of their commitments to unite and reconcile PDP member. He called on members of the PDP party to work with the new executive and form an inclusive political administration.
But the old executive led by the Interim Secretary General has so far sworn not to recognize the Prince Coker led national executive and described it as illegal.
