In a bid to continue strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Plan International Sierra Leone has handed over the conference hall that they refurbished, six motor bikes, two computer laptops, printer and accessories and a photocopy machine.
The handing over ceremony took place on Tuesday 11 July 2023 at the MBSSE headquarters in Freetown.
The Country Director of Plan International Sierra Leone, Evariste Sindayigaya regarded MBSSE as a very strategic partner in what they do, noting that the ministry’s vision is very much aligned to that of Plan International Sierra Leone and they have enjoyed partnering with the ministry.
According to him, the donation is because of a pledge he made to the ministry few months ago.
“Our vision is to support the effort of the government especially in our areas of intervention. We look at the capacity of MBSSE and strengthen where necessary,” he said.
He said the motor bikes will be handed over to the School Feeding Secretariat to increase the mobility of food monitors in different parts of the provinces.
The Permanent Secretary of MBSSE Mr. Brima S. Kebbie thanked Plan International Sierra Leone for the kind gesture, noting that no intervention is too small, especially for a ministry like Basic Education.
“These motorbikes came in handy as food monitors were struggling with mobility in our different operation areas. We pray that the relationship we have with plan doesn’t stop here,” he said.
The Deputy Minister ll Madam Mamusu Massaquoi regarded Plan International Sierra Leone as a reliable partner particularly in the area of school feeding.
She assured Plan International Sierra Leone that the donated items will be used for the intended purposes.
“Of all the organisations we have worked with, no one comes closer compared to Plan International Sierra Leone in terms of shared vision. Both institutions prioritized school feeding, inclusion of special needs, youth development and participation among others,” according to the minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Dr. Moinina David Sengeh.
