The Regional Police Commander of Freetown-East, ACP Francis Meinday, on Tuesday 5th March 2024 successfully raid Cannabis Sativa plantations. According to information led a team of elite police officers in an intelligence-led by the operation at a location called ‘Too Small Water,’ situated at Upper Kingston Town, Hastings. Despite the difficult terrain, the Regional Commander motivated his personnel, and they quickly secured the vast acres of land, where a Cannabis Sativa (Jamba) plantation farm had been planted.Due to the health risks associated with smoking Cannabis Sativa, which can increase the chances of developing certain mental health disorders, particularly in predisposed individuals, and the illegal status of cultivating it, the entire farm was harvested and cleared of all Cannabis Sativa plantations.
During the operation, Sallay Kanu, a resident of Too Small Water, Upper Kingston Town, Hastings, was arrested for the unlawful possession of some quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. Both the suspect and the exhibits are now at TOCU for further investigations.
